VIN number

Can someone please post a pic of where there VIN number is spossed to be? I can only find the plate rivetted to the crossmember above the right headlight assembly!!

if you look where the rubber seal is around the bulkhead below the wipers, need the bonnet open, there is a VIN number stamped in there mate

I checked between windshield and bonnet. All I got were numbers, no letters! Is this normal?

checked, they all match, BUT i don't have any letters like it says on one of the american sites just numbers. Does this mean I have t
o go into a service dept and find out?

Hi Colin,
I would make sure - just in personal interest - that the VIN number you have in the shell matches the V5, as that would indicate that the chassis has always been the same (someone correct me If am wrong). Otherwise, I don't think why it should be a problem.

type the last seven numbers in and it will tell you where and when your car was built - if the vin number only has numbers digits it may be an SA import

mine was built 02/89 and its only got numbers, and it was allegedly built as a 2 door - but i've got history going back to 91 saying its a 4 door.
All i can think of is:
data entry c*ckup
customer changed their mind during build
reshell
I agree it is a bit odd but even the stealers didn't blink an eye when i ran the number past them - just muttered something about the bad old franchise days
