BMW don't make powerful enough RHD 4 pots.

A Transit is a 'Van', not an estate. Also, I would argue that it is strictly speaking, a Cosworth engine, and not a Ford one.....bmwbmw wrote:if you are going to put a ford engine in a estate , you might aswell have bought a transt, its the right colour for it , if the engine is the heart of the car , that means this is no longer a bmw

I've driven a Sierra Costworth, if your car's engine is as good as the sierras then you have move 1 step further m8, now you are in THE level... well done !
ok an escort estate thenOllieB wrote:A Transit is a 'Van', not an estate. Nissan 200SX S14a - Track Slag
BMW 328i Cab - Daily Slag
Basically....Sweet! that does look so at home, i wasn't sure when someone asked the question of a cossie in an e30(not sure if it was you or not) but feck me does it look at home in there! Complete work of art, shame the garage fudged you about so much. Also a tech 2 on a tourer is too
Effort mate.

About bleedin time
I know it was the Garage that did all the work. But personally Id look at repositioning the air filter where the washer fluid is, and put the breather pot somewhere sensible. With a bit of tidying, the engine bay will look sweet.
But its a really good sleeper from the outside

thanks a lot guys, i wasnt to sure how other owners would react to it, i think i was expecting more views like bmwbmw,s. but hey, each to their own, im glad its went down so well
ill be going to meets and shows next year so ill probably get to meet a lot of you there
the garage did muck around a bit on the time taken, but i cant fault the quality of their work or the after job service on the minor niggles, it was me who positioned the air filter there as i thought it would be better to keep it away from the heat of the turbo, but there is a couple of little changes ill be making over the next few weeks. ive got no idea what the rear lights are as i got them of ebay for Ԛ£72. i thought they suited the white car quite well. m3compact ,you ve got good eyesight to have spotted the little cosworth badges on the rear pillars!
I dont think heat soak is that much of a problem. Any cone filter equipped Cossie have theirs on the OS. Plus (I dont think) having such a long pipe between the filter and the turbo does the charge speed any good. Which menas more lag.

Cost of rebuilding a cossie YB is about Ԛ£1500 to completely rebuild it for 350 bhp (trade). a BMW engine would cost a lot more than that to get even 300 bhp out of via turboing it. Secondly a supra twin turbo is a money pit engine it costs to much to rebuild and the power for the cash you spend on it is rubbish. It's just a waste of time. YBs are much better.bmwbmw wrote:yeah im for real fella , each to there own i gess . like i said the cars sweet i just hate them engines , ide rather stick a supra twin turbo under the bonnet. at lest its still inline 6
I currently have a cossie with 350 bhp and it's in the middle of a rebuild. It had done 80.000 miles and never been apart, well apart from the head gasket upgrade. 50.000 of them miles it was running 330 bhp and 10.000 of them it was just under 400 bhp! That speaks for it's self i think they are a legendary enging and very good! Based on a trusty old pinto bottom end too.
Oh and fuzzy the car looks ace! love the look of the 3 series touring especialy with the alpina style wheels. Top job that, nice to see! You can go to ford meets and bmw ones aswel
That is extremely cool mate, good work.fuzzy wrote:http://img453.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... 0817yj.jpg - rear left pic.

Perfect engine and car combo, although i might have been tempted by a stripped out 316 shell with a cage and buckets.... now i'm thinking.

Hey fuzzy, just noticed this thread, so first time I have seen the old girl!
Car in itself looks fab, white mtec2 tourer with black leather, coolio
The YB lump looks perfectly at home in there. Is it running an intercooler? Nice looking conversion though and I bet it is a bit of a missile!
I have no issues with people cross-breeding cars and engines, full respect to the boys on here who have/are doing M20 turbos, oh and Toby who is depraved and adding boost to his M30 beast, but I much prefer to stick with an engine which has had proper development as a forced induction engine, rather than being a mobile test rig, waiting for something to give up. That's why I was having thoughts about either the S14 200SX engine or better still the Toyota 7M out of the MK3 Supra turbo. Infinitely tunable also for not much money, probably just more hassle on the actual conversion though.
Top marks fella
