Thought i'd say hi to everyone rather than lurk in the shadows!

I've bought a '89 325SE off ebay a couple of months ago, after a friend bought a 325 Sport from there. Basically the car was such fun I thought I'd give it a go, so during some time off work I found my finger bidding away and found myself an E30 owner...

So far i've replaced the front tyres, added a Mongoose back box (but having problems with that), new down pipe, new dealer logo plates, clear front indicators (excellent service from the zone shop) and a tech1 steering wheel (Ԛ£1.10 from ebay).

Fancy a bbtb and induction kit, and maybe a chip, but which first?

Here's some pictures:

very nice original tidy looking ride you've got there fella, welcome to the Zone.

I would go for the chip first, best to seek the advice of Ant, who deals with the chips as to what to go for, they are Ԛ£55 from him or on the zone shop, there is a mild and a wild one, both the same price, mild one best if you don't really plan on much else, bbtb perhaps worth going wild. Go wild if you plan on sticking a different cam in.

Generally, induction kits such as cone filter on it's own does not give you any increase whatsoever, if you manage to build a good heat shield and get a good cold air flow you may see something. Again, the zone shop sells a pukka kit which does actually work but Ԛ£190, a cheaper alternative is being sorted though i think.

Ah!, I don't like the exhaust either, but that's subject to a bit of a disagreement between myself and Collins Performace (the Mongoose manufacturer). It sits too low, and too far out, and looks too much like a Halfords special. I took it back to Collins for them to have a look at, and they said it wasn't their back box but must be the fault of the new downpipe I had fitted by Kwik Fit pushing the system too far back.

I went to Kwik Fit and they ordered a replacement pipe, but this was exactly they same. In their opinion the back box was pushing the whole system out of line. When I rang Collins to tell them about this, Martin Collins said it can't be their back box, and therefore must be the centre section. When I told it that was rubbish it must be the back box he slammed the phone down on me. :x I did call him back after a couple of minutes and pointed out his error, but the best he could do was suggest to fit one of their centre sections!

So I'm not sure what to do about it. It's currently sitting on an angle after they gave up on it. And to add insult to injury they dented the tailpipe trims..... Any suggestions?

Kam - I live about 15 miles outside Shrewsbury, in the stix, but Shrewsbury was the nearest place that people would have heard of! For my sins I work in Telford on Stafford Park, where are you?

Yes, it was Ԛ£1.10 for the tech 1 wheel! I found it on ebay about 30 minutes before the end. Don't know why no-one bid but it's fine, I got a new badge for the bottom spoke for Ԛ£2.60 and it's as good as new :D
