Ok guys, bit of help needed! :D

Been offered a deal today on my 318i for a Schwartz Black 318is on a H reg :)

Guy wanted Ԛ£700 in cash but i managedto talk him into a straight swap for mine minnus my Hartges winkeye

Problem is this-
There is no Mot/tax on it and it has been stood(in garage)for about 6 months.
The bodywork is very clean,no rust anywhere but has a little scrape about 2 inches long near the N/S/R light.
Interior is absolutely mint and has rear headrests etc.
it has 15" sh1tty alloys but ill be keeping mine so not a problem.
2 previous owners last one for 9 years.
Service history upto 110k,know on 132k.Invoice for timing chain at 99k.
Been assured that it is a superb runner but battery flat,so arranged to go see him tomorow at 1pm to hear it run.
Had a quick look today and looks very well, cant see much wrong to be honest just needs some love and making road legal.

So should i go ahead and swap?It will mean i have to go without a car untill its Moted?

Ive more or less made up my mind just need to hear someone elses opinion before i go ahead  :D

Don't think you can argue against the swap if you have confidence in the other car mate, the low amount of previous keepers and some service history help matters too.

Have you been able to drive it at all?

Try going to the $tealers with the reg and vin?

eko i know how you feel, i to crave an iS put after putting quite a bit of money into mine, and it having zero rust etc i just dont want to sell it and have to start again getting the iS to how i want it.

Swapping a car with noMOT is a bit risky if you ask me, or it could be an absoulute bargian.

Its your call :D

Howdy Adam :D

I know what your saying,no MOT etc,but im not just diving in head first. If at any point i start to get dubiuos,ie Engine sounding shite etc, then ill walk away, but from what i saw yesterday its going to be good(fingers crossed)
Im off to London for 2/3 days early December so if i do deal then ive got to bear this in mind as ive got no other transport!

Im going back today to hear it running and have a drive so ill know more later,in the meantime im getting very excited now!

Also done an insurance quote last night and its 90p a month cheaper than my current 318i and thats fully comp valued at Ԛ£1000 with no excess  This is getting to good winkeye

Right it now official,i am the proud new owner of a 318is :woohoo:

Went over yesterday and we put a battery on it and it fired up first go :D
Sounds very sweet,no rattles or smoke etc, well chuffed :)

So whats the deal?
Well i go over there tomorow morning at 10am,put my Hartges on and drive it home, straight swap!

I even get to keep my maplight mirror, rare boot panel/larger toolkit and my brand new M gearknob because i took these out before going to see him

Basically matey is happy cause he only wanted something with TAX/MOT on to jump in and use as and when he needs, which from what he said wont be very often

He also said he isnt bothered about the CD player and if i want to swap it then i can keep it

How happy am I :D

Took a couple of pics after we pushed it out the garage but not to clever so will take a few more when i get it home tomorow!

I AM BUZZIN

Now remember life begins at 4000rpm (keep it below 3000 for the 1st 10mins till its warmed up though) and fun is in the bends

I'd lose the towbar too myself
Extra weight
Cheers,
Robin

Well done!

Hope it sails through the MOT...

Have a close look at the fuel lines as they disappear under the inlet manifold, they attach to a short length of rubber hose, and always leak...

Right, was supposed to pick up last night but due to one thing or another it didnt happen so i went over tonight to get it. winkeye
But i still couldnt get it home cause the fan belt has snapped and its absolutely pi55ing it down here, also got to swap the wheels over and i am not doing that in this rain
So plan is-do a sicky from work in the morning, meet matey at his house at 10am armed with a new fanbelt and try again :?
Hopefully this time ill be able to drive it home, the wait is killing me

Basically as soon as i know, you`ll know :D

You lucky git. Fingers crossed on the MOT. I'd have been tempted to put it through an MOT to see what needed doing. Bit late now.
Tow bars are good for making you look respectable to the police, especially on a touring and useful for reverse parking and abviously should you ever need to tow anything. :D
Just been on the RAC site and it says my car was made on the 31st Dec '89. Does that make it the last 80's 3 series?

Nope, sorry! The dates on there usually say cars were made on the 31st dec; doesn't mean they were I'm afraid.
