325i battery
Moderator: martauto
hey, might sound dumb but what is the right battery for a 91 325i ? i mean amps, amhs, rating, size ? put my old 318i one in and its sparked my 325 up a bit, but both seem to small for compartment ? any ideas or help would be great.
thanks

Most batteries will work, but they take alot of power to crank big motors over.
When motors are cold they can take longer to start. This can drain a small battery quickly, but start it fine on warm days.
I think a 780amp start up is about what you need.
Avoid halfords cheap shite, bosch are way better.

I have a Brand new heavy duty battery from Bmw bought for my 2.7 here cost me £140
will take £60 for it if you are interested? iirc the cheap shit you get from halfords cost more.

Yes they do. I paid £96 for my first home brand halfords battery. The Bosch ones were £126, the £30 saving is false ecomonmy.MurphyE30 wrote:I have a Brand new heavy duty battery from Bmw bought for my 2.7 here cost me £140

£60 is a bargain!
thanks for replies,
780amps is high, think the one i have in there now runs about 560amps, thats not enough, the original one in the new car runs 590amps, both dont sound to good !
Murphy.. do you know the rating of your heavy duty one ?

590 is what i have in my astra, 1.6! I think the crappy halfords one is 640. If your car is running smoothly, it wont cause a problem, but on those days when it takes a few turns to get it moving....sparkyk4 wrote:thanks for replies,

need a new battery soon !
is it.. that when you disconnect the battery the ecu has to re-learn settings ?
as mine idles slightly higher with the lesser battery in it, or is that just temporary ?

yh im my experance they do, will be a bit lumpy and stinky on startup but just take it out for a spin and it will map itself after 20 mins i think it is, i had problems with bosch batterys not so long ago, the issued battery was a lot smaller than my battery tray and after a few days it died.. took it back and got another and same thing, 2 days and dead! i thought i had a power drain but all checked ok, went for an excite battery and its golden

In my experience, disconnecting a good battery and connecting up another one doesn't screw up the ECU settings. Problems arise when you drain every last drop of life out of a dead battery trying to start the car, with the engine just managing to turn over until it grinds to a halt.Blitz wrote:096 is the type
Wife's E36 325i is currently running on a 1.1 Peugeot 106 battery, slightly bigger than a torch battery!

I like the biggest one that will fit, so when I leave my lights on at work I can still get home
