Hi there, I'm new to the forum and BMW's, and am currently looking at buying an '87 325 sport. Is there anything I should look for with regards to rust etc. Are the engines fairly solid? The one I'm looking at has done 125k is that not too bad?
Many thanks
Mark

125k is about right.
You're looking for rust in the rear arches, front footwell, around the rear suspension turrets, scuttle under the windscreen, the usual places.
Also check the water in the expansion tank for oil drops, and the oil filler cap for "mayonnaise", signs of head gasket/cracked head problems; not unkown - apart from that, engines go on forever if looked after.
Suspension bushes all round can be knackered, listen for knocks when cornering, pulling away & over bumps.
Finally, check for service history; the more the better.
And don't pay over the odds!
