what was the spec on your car pre-accident mate? pics and tech spec needed
without seeing it, anywhere from 500-3000.. you just cant tell without spec and photos

like i said, do u have any pictures of it pre-accident. condition is the biggest factor. if u can prove the condition, you can fight a money-war

i assume the eyebrow spoilers and smoked indicators arent declaired either?
if u need to pull the kit off too, it will have holes in the sills and it will look obvious. this is why you should always declair stuff (i wont lecture you) but you could get screwwed mate, sorry. i bet they will offer you a grand max.

yes, its a mod. a mod is ANYTHING that is not standard issue on the car in question when it rolled out of the showroom.

even if u bought it like that mate.
if its not ur insurance company, then id be MORE worried, not LESS worried. they will pick up on stupid tiny things like that and state how the driver modified the car blah blah blah - they will try and paint picture of a chav who tries to cut the system.

When they classed my car as a write off no-one came to see it but i changed it back to std just incase.
wheels, gearknob, full iS interior all my ice and cables, front splitter.
Had to leave the exhuast and lowering springs on tho obviously.
I gave them the info on the car over the phone, all the relevant stuff.
They got back to me with Ԛ£650 for my car
I was like, you can shove that up your fcuking arse love!
I disputed it and they siad if a got a written evalaution from a BMW garage and some Autotrader adverts they would reconsider the price for my car.
So in the end got a payout of Ԛ£1100 for it!! A bit of a difference!
Had to minus Ԛ£330 tho because i wanted to keep the car and repiar it.
Thats my story

Yup they might do, and my car was mint before the accident and i had photo's to prove and they still only offered me Ԛ£650!
Just basically dispute it if its really low and they should give you the option they gave me of sending in autotrader ads etc.
Bit of a sneaky on this, but i copied and pasted the most expensive 318 adverts i could find and also altered a few of the prices
Im not gona get completely shafted now am i?

Dan, the bloke coming to look at your car is from the other party's insurance company, so he has no idea of what mods are and are not delcared and it makes no difference to him.
He will turn up, look at the car and observe it is a write off. Simple as that. If the car was standard, it would still be a write off.
If you can salvage mtec kir from the rear and side pods without it making the car look like a complete heap then do that. Basically you want the car to look as smart as it can so that the bloke gives it the best valuation. But do not make the mistake of pulling all the morsels off it for the sake of saving some mtec bits only then for the bloke to look at the car and classify it in poor condition as that will then be reflected in his valuation.
These insurance assessors are largely guided by the Glass's & Parkers guides, they don't care that a second hand mtec kit is worth Ԛ£500 and will therefore not add anything like that to the valuation of the car.
Just keep your cool with the bloke.

thank god for that
im just worried that hes guna class it as a cat B or something an not let me get the rest of my things off.
it still looks in mint condition with the kit on to be honest, an the interior has jus been reverted to stock so hopefully with a couple of adverts il be able to stop him being an arse
