Changed the pads, discs and shoes on my 316i at the weekend and noticed a leaky wheel cylinder......and the clutch slave cylinder has also sprung a leak!
And to top it off i ordered the parts and they still havnt arraived!
GRRR!!!!
Im having to drive my mums yellow Wagon R with cowprint seat covers while my E30s stuck on the drive!
Why do cars hate me?!

Cars dont hate you, its just an E30 which is a very old car and lots of bits will always go wrong due to wear and tear.
Welcome to E30 ownership!

Short answer to your subject title is 15 year old+ rubber, (and infrequent fluid changes?).Ratfink wrote:Changed the pads, discs and shoes on my 316i at the weekend and noticed a leaky wheel cylinder......and the clutch slave cylinder has also sprung a leak!

Good news is parts are cheap enough. Bad news is that the clutch master usually follows the slave soon after.
As for the Wagon R !!!. Only go out after dark. Paper bag on head. Move to a different town for a few days.

If thats the case why does my girlfriends 1968 Viva never play up?!
I must admit the E30 pretty good, but then its the newist car ive ever had!
I think cars are like jealous women....the minute you go to spend money on something else they demand attention!

Can't see much in the way of things like rubber parts being still original on a 68 Viva.Ratfink wrote:If thats the case why does my girlfriends 1968 Viva never play up?!

Thats the trouble with E30s - most parts on them are still original.

That Viva gets on my tits...it can do no wrong!
I sprayed it black for her...just a rush job, you know a quick flat and a splat....best paint job id ever done!
I even painted the flames on it in the dark...outside!
I think my cars just crave attention.....I had a Dodge Dart that wouldnt start everytime my friend Chatlotte got in it!
I do love my e30 though...its just the cash id got to tart it up this month is going on parts.
Oh well!

I remember telling my missus before we got the E30 that it will always have a small list of jobs that need doing and that from time to time it will let us down, being a 17 year old car.
Well the list is getting ever bigger

Cars always go wrong for me, I even bought a brand new car as I was fed up with problems and that turned out to be my most unreliable car ive ever owned.
With the E30, when I replace a part I know it should last for another 10-15 years.
