The only way to find out was was ordered for the car when new if if you have the original purchase order sheet or sales receipt from BMW when it was new.
Or to give your VIN (specifically the last 7 digits) to either a BMW Dealership or someone on here like CharlE30, and they will get the order sheet for you.
That will not work for audio equipment as it was all dealer fitted, not factory fitted.
The "sheet" you get from a BMW dealer is the build data which is available in "View data" form and "ASAP" form and both have varying levels of info.
For example, View data will list who the original selling dealer was but ASAP wont.
ASAP will list the build week, engine and gear box number, View data will not.
Neither of these will list dealer fitted items like Audio, mud flaps, floor mats, stripes, tow bars etc etc so as i said, the only way of truly finding out exactly what was ordered but the customer is the original purchase order sheet or customer receipt.
Both of which often go missing from the cars service history.
A copy of all 4 of the pieces of info i have mentioned is whats needed to make up a comprehensive list of info original to the car.
Luckily the View data and ASAP information can be obtained at any time by any BMW dealer if you give them the last seven digits of the chassis number but the sales receipt and original purchase order are like gold dust!
