have voted to unlock because the site seems to be very quiet since it has been locked
i've been registered for a long time but dont post very much because others beat me to hte tech answers or are just better informed than me but i come on here daily and feel tht the zone is struggling at the moment but will get back to it's former glory

A clear conscience is a sign of a bad memory
I voted unlocked, but think if the post originator (person selling) could have the rights to remove any comments he/she wishes to from his/her advert. This way it is self regulated by the person who will look at it the most (seller).
Couldnt be that difficult to set up. Everyones happy

I voted to unlock as think the board has gone a bit "quiet".
self regulation or possibly dedicated Mods may be the best way to reduce the "chitchat" that takes place in there.

I think the whole zone has been quiet for the last 2-3 weeks, loads of people onlinek just not many posting, plus it's soooo much better now the topic notification emails are back, at least you can pick up where you left off. think that explains a lot of the low posting
By the way, I voted to unlock the for sale section

Just for the record, the site has been no quieter in the last few weeks having looked at the site statistics.
This includes, page hits, forum postings in general and new topics in the classifieds are pretty much the same.
The zone is getting busier by the month and below are total hits the site has had in previous months during 2005
Jan - 577,639
Feb - 682,467
Mar - 813,662
Apr - 923,513
May - 871,921
Jun - 877,159
Jul - 888,646
Aug - 941,050
Sep - 931,942
October so far - 778,376 which means that if people carry on viewing the site at the same rate for the rest of October, we'll hit over a million hits a month for the first time 1,005,402
So I think this says that the zone has been more busy if anything!

Flame Suit On:
I voted for a locked system. I have used it on other websites and it works very well. For me, a transaction is between 2 people and conducted in private, PM's is the way I would trade.
When an item is for sale, posts will appear about how, why, what, where, when with no offer on the table. Others might be (I used to be a culprit of this myself) how nice the item is and how they wished they had the money etc. Nice sentiments.....still no cash!
I have purchased through this site and all conducted in private through PM's and one person even asked for any information about items be kept between ourselves and not openly discuss it through the forum, which I was more than happy to do and have kept that promise.

Please, pretty please unlock ! i am starving and need to eat .
As they say any publicity is good publicity,an active thread is a viewed thread, more viewers= more potential victims !.
Lots of people at donington didn't recognize me because i looked so gaunt and malnourished !, Please unlock the for sale threads and let me eat again!

why not a system whereby new zoners have to apply to the mods to submit for sale items if they do not have 100 posts?
i also live far far away from uk so cant buy stuff off zone, so will vote lock to be different.

Obviously merits for both locking and unlocking the sections,
I would vote to unlock them, but lock individual topics if they go way off thread.
