By the time you have paid an expert £50 an hour for 4 hours to fit it,the cost will be broadly the same as a supply/fit from the UK.
If you are looking for a replacement hood,it is worth thinking about replacing the tension straps at the same time, these are much cheaper sourced in the USA.DaveD will probably have a link....

Cheers Daimlerman, I had a feeling I would still have to pay someone to fit it, car goes off the road at the end of August for the next 6 or 7 months as the tax is up.
Its one the of the jobs I would like to have done over the winter, is taking the roof off the car and taking it to someone to get redone a good idea or is it a bit of a pig getting it off and back on the car as a DIY job.

I would love to have a go at re-covering a hood myself...some-one posted up the BMW video's a while back,a search,or DaveD's help,may just find them.
In theory,it's just having the confidence to take a pair of scissors to a pre-cut roof to make it fit perfectly,if you have that confidence, please take plenty of photo's and share with us!
As I understand it,you need to seperate the fabric from the header rail and the rear hoop, gluing the trimmed replacement in.Header rails do rot,and may well be best replaced at the same time, bit like tensioner straps.
My view is that it's pushing my DIY skills to take it on,I'm waiting for another zoner to try it first and post how 'easy' it is! That's how I got sold an M50 conversion, and a 2.7 engine build.....and a touring headliner swap...
