The centre caps are plastic and the clips that hold them to the wheel have melted and now rattle badly when fitted!

Well pissed off!

mine have never done that ,maybe you get a lot more heat in your braking than me !!! have you tried sicking a bit of masking tape or moulding tape on the wheel to give the tabs something to bite on ?

if ur generating that much heat,i would check ur calipers are not sticking and heating up ur wheel, would need some serious heat to melt them im sure.

Dont know if you can make those out, but basicaly both front caps are the exact same, makes me think its the hard driving generaing the heat and melting the caps.

Have you ever used acid to clean the wheels ?
The Active 8 stuff does a good job of melting plastic if you dont wash it off.
There is NO nucleus.

Yeah thats totaly true and possible, but i dont use anything but BMWs own wheel cleaners (they are cheap and dont eat through latex gloves)

I found the plastic clips break off so easily when putting the hub-caps back on. At least 2 of mine are broken this way now - one to the point that it doesn't stay on the car anymore.

However, i've got some on order with Hartge via Maya Hartge at the moment - 3 for me and 4 for Iain. If anyone wants some replacements, they're about Ԛ£17 each including postage - let me know ASAP and i may be able to add them to my order.

They are on back-order currently and apparently this will be the last batch, so it's a case of buy them now or live without them!

Crap! buy now or live without them! Thats why Mini Cooper Works are the better option over the Hartge Minis! Ten-fifteen years down the line you could still get Works bits

I've just rung the Hartge importer for the UK - that's Birds
www.birdsauto.com
(or put in Birds and BMW into a search engine if you don't trust me!)

the genuine caps directly from them WERE cheaper than 17GBP - I ordered and received 4 brand new ones from them last year.

But now Birds do confirm that the caps are on 'back-order', which means there may be some more coming, or there may not (helpful huh?)

I also bought a set of centre caps form Birds about 6 months ago, and they were Ԛ£12 each.

I got a quote from Birds recently for these - they're Ԛ£19+VAT+P&P now. Ended up going through Maya Hartge and ordered some for Ԛ£15+P&P
