I know this has prob been asked a few times on here before but what is the best sump guard for my '90 318i? I've just managed to crack my 2nd sump in less than a month (which prob serves me right for getting one off ebay from poland  ). Iv've seen a pretty hefty looking guard on raceperformancemodified but on the site it says £125 where as i've seen it advertised a few times for £75??? Are there any others that are decent and are not going to break the bank?

The rpm sump guard is good but imo if your running a slammed car comprimises too much ground clearance. Just make your own, go to a the metal supermarker buy some 3mm steel, then just cut it and bend it to shape.

The link below is my build thread and displays how the guard was made. So far it has taken some good impacts and my sump is still perfect.

wow your guard does look pretty damn good, deffinatly going to look into making one. My girlfriend did say she would buy me a guard for my birthday which is now a bit over due so may try take advantage of that. But like you said if it compromises ride height??? Not sure exactly how high my sump is atm, prob about 75mm? Very nice car btw!

made my own also, the box section then meets vertical pieces each end which are then welded to the chassis legs, metal is a old pc case bolted to the tube and then to the steering rack bolts, its taken a good few hits, best thing is seen as i made it i made run as close to the sump as possible for added clearance.
