prior to attempting removal its a good idea to spray some WD40( or similar) on the studs for a few days/weeks/years , anything to make the job easier is worth a little prep dude
I find that removing the manifold when the engine is hot is the best method, yeah it may burn you a couple of times but there really is far less chance of a stud snapping, more likely to wind the nut/stud combo out of the head, which is a bonus anyways
good luck dude, just make sure and NOT use copper nuts when replacing them, std M8 nuts will be fine, and will actually come off easy next time around
