Brimmed the tank, zeroed the tacho and ran the car to work and back. Gauge read empty, but no warning light. Brimmed the tank again. 46.45 litres in, having covered 300 miles. That is a damn solid 29mpg!!! Plus I've been doing a lot of sitting letting the car idle, so it can be improved upon!

I am amazed. :D

If that's your cabby John, that's pretty good.
My 320i Touring only does about 26mpg 'round the doors and about 32ish on a run.
.........And I'm running a 3.64 diff!
This is why I no longer drive an E30......

yep 320i cabby! With the roof down (naturally...) creating more drag. My 24v 320i e36 would not really match that!

tourings have 50/50 weight balance, plenty of torsional rigidity and m20b20 rightness! we cain it for the sound mate, not to get good economy!! :D

John-thats good gas mileage  hats off to ya fella :D

I just drove 15 miles around town with my new OBC which told me I have managed 16mpg - and I drove like an old man.

My OBC seems pretty accurate, I managed an actual 35.5mpg with the OBC reading 35M/G but I kept to the speed limits and didn't accelerate hard.

If I drive 'normaly' I get about 26 which is an mix of a little town work, some open B roads and some dual carriageway fun.

2.7 engine and a 4.1:1 diff. Man I need to change the diff winkeye

My 316 Touring does 26 - 29mpg on the 7 mile work run & 33mpg on a motorway @75mph.

Recently did a round trip up to Glentress & managed 37mpg! Weren't hanging around either.

I think Diamond Black metallic must have a high drag factor.

just been on a rally with a friend in his IS and managed 23.1 MPG!!!

trying a similar thing but with Ԛ£25 I hase so far got just over 100miles and i'm halfway between red and 1/4 but I did thrash it up a hill in chase of a passat so I think I annihilated the whole exercise in one go - DOH! mines a 316i btw
