If you need to ask,do not attempt this at home....
Youth is wasted on the young.
Niel, i wouldn't even bother mate!
I took mine to a metal shop and asked them to take the guibo off and weld it as a solid linkage and they refused as its part of the steering and an obvious hazard! Its cast alloy and can be tigged but if you value your life spend about £60 odd with danthe and buy yourself a "danthe solid steering linkage" mate

A 2 door e30 with 8 cylinders, what could be better

Aw right, yeah I read about his problem with them, very strange! Must be made with inferior rubber tbh!!
I used e28 m5 ones on mine and put like 5000 miles on them with no issues what so ever. Got mine from euro parts, the OEM part number matched that of sytner bmw. Go get some mate

I`m a welder by trade and have every confidence in my tig or mig welding but as for welding a cast item that takes some serious strain,i wouldnt trust it.
The weld itself would probably be ok but the metal either side of the weld may not!
I value my and my kids life more than saving a night out`s worth of money.
