Been having problems with my key fob and wondered if anyone else out there had the same. I've just changed the battery and the LED flashes but the car dosen't repond. Image

If anyone has the same have you had any problems and do you know if there is a way of re-coding it??

I reckon you need a new remote mate. You can still get them from BM, but need to be coded in. (I think you just have to flick a switch on the alarm control unit and click the remote if i'm thinking of the right one.)

the early alarms don`t have the switch that only applies to late system2/3 alarms in e36/e34

bmw will need to recode it or order a new fob to match your serial number on your alarm control unit.

shame because i had only recently chucked my old alarm away it had the same fob as you have.

I was hoping there was going to be an easy fix for this one  and got all excited about 'the switch'. To be fair the fob is looking a bit tired so I'll try and order a new fob.

Hi, iirc these were fitted by dealers and not at factory, the control unit on mine was up behind the glovebox at the top

You can get a new sticker for the remote if its worn, as far as recoding a 2T/3T remote its an easy 2 min job. The only problem is the dealer will have the alarm programmer needed to do the job.
