Yo,

my mate has just bought a very early M-tech 2 diamond black sport, or so i think. It's built in 1988 and F reg.

Having his next to mine today i had a good look around it and am quite jealous but theres a few things i notice.

It has genuine half leather recaros very rare ( which he wants to sell and buy nice leather) and also it has what appears to me an early 2.5 lump as the rad and air box etc are different to my 89 sport. Also has 3 piece exhaust, which i want! No headlamp washwipe either, which i thought was standard on sports. And what seems to be a very rare smaller M-tech 1 steering wheel. plus it has normal sport features like black headlining and opening rear quarter windows, all electrics, check control panel etc

Whats adding to the confusion to me is, the guy who originally bought it. He ordered it from germany and went over to collect it from one of their dealers. It has german dealer stickers by the drivers door sill and on the inside of the boot where our UK cars have theirs. It is right hand drive too but it's not coming up on bmw's register either so we are having a bit of trouble finding out it's heritage. I just think it's interesting and i'm sure some hero on here knows the answers! We think it's a UK spec car and his isurance have not classed it as an import even though he has told them where it came from

Could be a japanese, South African or aussie spec car, that could account for the difference in rad/airbox.

Worth also noting that not all sports in all contries are the same, i.e here they are almost all autos, and no lightwashers, not all have opening rear windows, some have the interior map lights, some have only mtech2 kit but no LSD, some have Bosch lights, some Hella, some have sunroofs etc etc etc!!
