Aye, grinning from ear to ear now. I was delivering a gearbox and we mt up in a well known pub car park. They have an overflow park and it's all gravel. It's a large area too. So I had a good go at a drift which finished in a sweet little spin. Next attempt was much better and was under control the whole way. Got to do more of this; tarmac felt so boring after that.

The E30 retains its charm even when a bit worn cosmetically. I really can't get over what fecking great cars they are. I'd have mine over any new FWD car even if I was offered one for free.

i learned the 'art' of drifting in gravel car parks in a 1300 mk2 escort (RWD for those who don't know). (this is probably before the term 'drifting' was invented!)

it allows you to experience everything that can be thrown at you on the road at 10mph!

i honestly think a gravel sliding or proper skidpan day should be an essential part of the driving test structure. imagine the crashed that could be avoided if everyone had had even 30 mins practice.

Oh yes, just doing a mini drift into our rented unit car park twice a week for a month has taught me loads about the E30 and improved my wet driving massively. Got to love these cars.
