Has anyone attempted to insure their pride and joy for a short period of time?
I want to insure my sport for a few days and am having difficulties.
At the moment it looks like I'll have to insure for 12 months and then claw back 11 months of it and be forced to pay excessive admin charges.
As it's more than 15 years old it can classify as a classic car, but some of these 'classic car' insurance providers have specifically excluded this model!
Are they insinuating this is not a classic or that a high proportion of owners are lunatics behind the wheel? Who knows.
In any case, any advice would be appreciated.

What about adding it to the policy of your "normal" car? 9 times out of 10 it works out the cheapest.
Of course if your E30 is the only car you have I don't know what to suggest

such policies will exist, though they are rare and insurers typically tend to shy away as they are well known for being the cause of dodgy claims, i.e. insure your car for 3 days for not a lot and hey ho surprise surprise a claim comes in. Budget Insurance did a monthly policy years ago and eventually scrapped it due to the amount of bogus claims.
Best bet really is to just contact a local independent insurance broker and explain what you are after. If they can't help, they should be able to point you in the right direction. Don't use any of the chains either like Swinton, Budget etc
Personally, I would steer clear of any direct insurers as you will just end up speaking to some spastic in a call centre who gets lost as soon as they have to divert from the script.

im in a similar position. i want to insure a car up until the 27th november (when i turn 21) as my premium drops like a stone!!!! on a 325 it drops over 200sheets and i can even insure an m535 for fair money...which im thinking of doing, as ive seen such a car locally going for not too much money.

are you sure about this?as my premium drops like a stone!!!!
when i applied for quotes just before i was 21 they took this into account. Never really had a steep drop in premium only a gradual one

i had a nice drop at 21, but i cancelled it by losing 3 years no claims in incident. So ended up paying the same for 2 years. So i think 21 does give u a good drop. I did keep a years no claims which was nice
