What do you actually have - physically in your possession able to be passed on to any new owner - by way of provenance for this car Ata? It could make a huge difference to its value.

No, I meant what do you have to back up that this is a genuine H27 cab. Your difficulty is that it has long been believed that there was only one and it wasn't this one. You'll need something tangible to get the proper money for it.

Discussed, yes, proven, no. If you want to sell it an an H27, you'll need to prove it - until then, it's a decent car with some Hartge bits.e30ata wrote:Ive got confirmation of Kevin & James Bird, thats good enough for me, let's move on, all been discussed before.cecotto479 wrote:What do you actually have - physically in your possession able to be passed on to any new owner - by way of provenance for this car Ata? I'm not doubting you or your car, I just don't see what all the secrecy is about. Let us see what you have?

You see Ata, that's the bit I just don't get. If I was selling this, I'd have done everything in my power to get a cast iron statement of its authenticity. It makes a huge difference. I'd have taken it to Birds, let them inspect the car and say, "We have inspected this car, VIN blah blah on blah blah and can confirm to the best of our ability, it's the genuine H27 convertible that we converted from blah blah on blah blah for Mr. blah blah". That sort of provenance could be worth as much a couple of thousand to this car - and indeed to the other one that is now one of two, not the only one.
The difference in value between that or something like it and the quote from the email you posted last time is night and day.
When I suggested the above course of action to you at that time, you seemed to think it was appropriate and worthwhile. Why did you do no more than you had done the last time you asked the same question?

It's on Pistonheads for £2,500.
Surely if it was one of two "genuine" Hartges then it would easily fetch as much if not more money than a genuine motorsport convertible no?
£2,500 buys you a standard 325i convertible needing a bit of work to get it tip top, so the owner obviously thinks that the "Hartge" but doesn't add any more value....because it's not a hartge!
IMO, a rotten turd with some nice shiny Hartge bits!
Would have been interested in this but looking at the attititude of the seller regarding providing proof, and how reluctant he is on the topic, I deem this as BS.
Just my 2pence that's all!

I'm liking the bus spec steering wheel on an extremely rare E30 btw!
Could have at least cleaned the engine bay up a bit don't you think fella?
