as above im planning on dropping my car 60/60 and will prob add some new billys while im at it

my question is what springs can i use that will still give a reasonable ride??

also gonna be dropping my latest aquisition when i get it a 90 320ise auto wanna go 60/60 on this too but keeping the standard shocks so again which springs are best for the job???

cheers all D :thumb:

EDIT will consider other drops if 60/60 is a no go??
ps anyone got a pic of 60/60 drop?
or alternatives??

Hey Daz
u sure u wanna go the 60/60 route. i have read on the thread it eats your back tyres up quiker, plus could have a rubbing issue ( of course i have no experiance with a 60/60 drop so i await correcting :) )

I see the 60/40 drop looks pretty cool. i wanna go the 35/35 root later on.

thing is ive worked out my car has 40/40 now and to me its still pretty high

ive heard there can be rubbing probs but as i (never) have rear passengers and im on 16s rather than 17s i may get away with it??

awaiting replies :D

If you want a reasonable ride then I'd rule out Spax springs unless you're gonna fit adjustable shocks. I've got Spax PSX kit on my 325i and the rear springs are so compressed that going over the slightest bump bottoms out the rear on the bump stops. To combat this I've had to set the rear shocks to a very stiff setting. IMO Apex springs might suit you. I've got them on my track car (with bilstein sport shocks) and they don't bottom out the rear at all and they still give a reasonable ride. Can't comment on anything else as only had experience with these two options on a 60mm drop.

60/60 will eat your suspension alive, i don't think a good ride is possible this low, the ride on the cupkit 60/40 is no worse than m-tech tbh and the car will handle unlike 60/60

hope u have no speed humps as 60/40 is pushing it! 40mm is bad enough on mine! can just do some kerbs

Mines 60/60 and i tell you what i wish it was 60/40 most of the time i have to take it real slow over speed bumps and stuf. Im going to hate it when im using it all the time have to get me arse into gear and get it changed of 40 on the rear.

do it, its so much better imo, my cab is 60 all round, back tyres do wear a bit quicker than normal but that dont bother me that much, i had it lowered on the standard shocks now for three years and there still fine and just went through the m.o.t as for handling, i think it handles twice as good as the standard set up.

heres some pics

Im on 60/60 and yes exhaust does catch occasionally, only when I have rear passengers. Looks amazing and sat next to mates on a 60/40, somehow makes it all worth while. Got mine from proven products, full shocks and springs. Tyre wear a little faster but handles like a go kart, easy beats my mates, and that a 325i.

daz mine was 60/60 all round on spax adjustables, its too low mate, ive replaced spax with original springs now and kept the adjustable shocks on, dont get me wrong the 60mm drop is fcuking great, but you WILL loose all drivabilty mate, IMHO dont do it! ive had a lot of setup's on my e30's over the past and TBH mate 60/60 is the worst one, id hate to see what the 80mm drop is like though, that would be just  go 60/40 mate you dont need to go any lower than that, i know your head might rule your way in the end and you'l say fcuk it 60mm all round but you will regret it, all will be fine at 1st, then it will settle in and then the problems start, horrible ride, cant get over speed bumps without the scrapes oh and if you do kerb drop parking...........FORGET IT! 60/40 matey if you wanna go lower just kill off that BLACK GAP at the front!

I run -60/60 and have no rubbing issues now as i've now got 205's on the rear. It used to rub with my old 215's tho.

As for the ride its alot better than on standard springs but havent been in another E30 so cant comment on how it compares, it does go very well when you point it tho :D

Ryan, what front spoiler is that? Is it the non-mtec-bmw-one? If so, any idea what they're better known as? Or better still, where I can get one?!

i liked my 60/60 put i kept catching things, if you dont mind that saz then go for it! you will deffo need 205's at the rear though unless you grind the arches down winkeye 60/60 does look the bollocks though i must admit but the speedbumps is the killer!

Mine is lowered at least 60mm, possibly more. It looks absolutely fantastic BUT here are the bad bits:
Front wheels catch on arches when alot of lock applied
exhaust scraps over most speed bumps
rear wheels are at a silly camber
arse is all over the road in the wet - ie NO warning when its about to kick out

To be honest Its great when cruising around but If I keep the car Im gonna raise it to a 35mm drop.

You're telling me - I love your car! :D

Gotta get me one of those then... was gonna go tech-1, but there's no chance of finding the skirts so I may as well do something else!

That front bumper/splitter is very nice. Ive been thinking of fitting something similar to mine.
