I picked up a convertible earlier in the week which I thought might have been a Motorsport with all the Motorsport bits robbed off it. If I had been asked what colour it is, I'd probably have said Lachs or Nogaro, but I'm notoriously colour blind.




Anyway, what had me wondering was the "SonderLack" paint code. It means individual paint, but I've only ever seen it on Motorsports and the Individual programme wasn't about in 1989.

Anyone else seen it on a "normal" car and any idea why a standard 325i cab with a fairly standard spec would have individual paint from the factory?

On another note, I saw the perfect number plate for we gay hairdresser types - CAB 81E. Unfortunately I don't think the butch black hack driver would sell it. Manchester area.

yes i mave seen it on a dutch registered e24 M635csi

its specail order paint from the individual program which was previously a branch bmw motorsport. it was changed to bmw individual for marketing reasons iirc.

bmw would do pretty much anything for a customer. if do go to dealers today not only do you have the standard range of colours, there are the "standard" individual colours available on the options list and special order idividauls like my compact and the colour choice is in the 100's if not 1000's.

That's the colour. Fact is that BMW have always been happy to relieve customers of their money, and would no doubt have painted any car sky blue pink if they were prepared to pay for it.
