Hi guys

What are the main differences between pre and facelift models?

Are body parts interchangable?

Any other info

Cheers

Front and rear bumpers. Don't see why anything other than that wouldn't be interchangeable. Happy to be corrected though..

Main differences between chromies and facelifts are.

Front vallance (Chromie has 2 toe eyes)
Rear arches (higher on the chromie)
Rear vallance (higher with no hole for toe eye)
Bumpers (chrome instead of plastic)

Doors wings bonnet sunroof and bootlid all interchangeable 8)

Wings different I think in that some pre-facelifts have no side indicator slots?
Two headblenders, couple of bags of MC Hammer, 5 litres of FFF, a 48ft bastard, a box of jumped-up custard and some soggy chimps

Very early examples iirc.

Rear lights are also different. And Chromies are infinitely cooler!

Headlights are different. Engine bay layout is different. Early 325's have the high compression engine and no cat. Exhausts are three piece as opposed to the later two piece.

Some say that a chromie is cooler

Others say chromie owners get the women

All we know is check for rust , rust and more rust , and when you done that check for some more.

The rear arches are different between the models.

The metal bumper Pre facelift cars which were produced from '82 to sept '87 (October '90 for cabrios) had a minor facelift for september '85 with the replacement of the 323i with the 325i.

The differences between '82-'sept '85 and sept '85-sept '87 cars are,

front valance (to allow for 325i oil cooler)
side repeaters (UK only)
seat trim
foot well speaker covers change from material to plastic
rear seat base height
rear seat belt anchorage points
