I’ve decided I need to earn some of my hard earned on a new trolley jack.

The one I’m currently using is a hand-me-down from my dad. The same one he was using in his late teens to bolt bubble arches to MK1 Escorts!

Although the current one still works, it does sometimes seem to struggle, but the biggest problem is that it doesn’t fit under my lowered turd!

This is where I need your help, the criteria is fairly simple in that it needs to be a low entry job. I don’t want to spend the earth, so around £100 is what I had budgeted.
The last thing is that it can’t way a ton, I have to lug all the kit from the shed at the bottom on the garden, through the house and out the front; thus some 40kg monster would be useless!

I’ve seen these two by ”˜Liftmaster’ not a make I’ve heard of before, anyone have any experience?

easiest way to get it underneath a low car is to drive either the front or rear wheels onto a plank of wood or similar

That is what I've been doing at the moment, but as I now need a new jack anyway, thought I'd kill two birds with one stone.

Thats the one I bought a few years ago, needs a oil top up every so often but good for lowered cars.

I've got one of these. Is it black, and weighs a ton? :D
I got mine about 18 months ago and it was £60.
It'll lift anything and drops down pretty low.

I’ve heard lots of good things about the jacks from Costco, particularly the brand ”˜Arcan’
sadly I’m not a member and the nearest one is miles away.

I’ve had a look at the Clarke aluminium jack from Machine Mart and it looks very good, I’ve also seen items from Liftmaster (see my OP), Draper and Sealey. On the face of it though they all look identical except the branded ones carry a much higher premium.

Although I know ”ayou get what you pay for”a etc, could it be the case that all these aluminium jacks are made by the same company (probably some Chinese firm) and are then branded by each manufacture, each charging a different price?

These are the ones from Costco - about £76 in there if I recall correctly, including the VAT.

Made a cheeky little bid on that, but it's getting on for more than it costs new!

Can you remember where you got yours from Andy?
