Hello all, I'm new to the zone and will shortly be back in the market for a cheap 325i.

I've just finished racing bikes this year and fancy doing something different now. A while back I used to have a 325i touring which was awesome fun and I'm thinking along the lines of getting the same again and making it mine and the missus' track car. It will only be used for trips to the ring and probably some UK track days too.

The plan is:

-Buy a cheap 325 (around Ԛ£300 or Ԛ£400)
-Get some new shocks and springs (as firm as possible, maybe change the arb's as well)
-Replace the brake discs and pads with performance items
-Strip the interior of everything that I can to make it as light as possible.
-Drive it like a loon on the track :)

Anyone else done anything similar?

...or got a 325i for sale for <Ԛ£400?

Hey dude, welcome fellow newb!
There is a 325 in the ebay section for about Ԛ£700 iirc. Otherwise, check ebay out and autotrader.

The zone shop here has ride-stiffness adjustable dampers as part of a kit for the 325i, I think it comes to about Ԛ£380 but check the button that says 'zone shop'.

Thanks mate. I think it's going to be an awesome track car. With no interior to speak of, the straight 6's roar should be beautifully audible. Just got to sell the race bike and the van first to clear a space for the 325.

Sounds like you have a fair collection!
According to the older members, the diff and gearbox are almost bulletproof on E30s, so that should be fun! Don't know about clutches though?
