Pushy 316 driver overtook me when I was doing 40 in a 40 mph zone.
So when he pulled into the left hand lane at the triple lane traffic lights it was time for a TLGP (Traffic Light Grand Prix). No contest, combination of reaction times and lighter car meant that the iS did the E30 name proud, pulling approximately 3 car lengths before the 316 driver woke up. Obviously not very happy either judging by the rate at which it caught up when I was once again doing 40 in the 40 limit.

Not being funny but what did you feel you accomplished by doing this as you pointed out you have an IS (16v, 136 bhp), lighter car against a big heavy, totally wrong power to weight ratio (8v 105bhp) E36?

What did I achieve? Justice for the E30.
power to wait ratio
Your typo is oddly relevant, since the 316 driver actually lost most ground courtesy of a 3s wake up time when the lights changed.

I'm really not being serious. It was just a laugh and a satisfying one too.

That is a bit of a gay comment really. Bloke was only having a laugh and didn't even break the law. Lighten up a bit mate.... :?

If you beat a 318is E36 then there is justice, otherwise you just waisted a load of fuel for good usage of drifting round roundabout's :D

The justice was more along the lines of quick reactions making up more ground than driving over the speed limit.

How is it gay?

I have a baby 318i and beat E36's all day long!
Try racing something more the same weight and size engine and beat it, then it's an accomplishment.

Stop thinking logically! I really did not expect this to be a scientific comparision of the acceleration performance of the two cars. It was just satisfying and entertaining to leave the E36 behind after the way that it overtook me in the first place.
