I normally cut the origanls out, plate the affected floor area and then either refit the old bracing sections or fold some outa sheet using the originals as a guide

Its not too bad a job to DIY assuming you can weld OK, just make sure you fully weld the area and seam seal/underseal ASAP

FYI you aren't supposed to jack on these... they are where the car was held for assy in the factory, you should be using the main chassis rail slightly inboard of these babies.

hiya ant

if theyre not actualy j points does this mean u could chop off the crap and just weld a flat plate in and not bother reshaping etc just smooth the plate in to underneath of car

got these to sort for mot but if they not vital would be easier to just repair and smooth

By all means do em flat, just up the metal guage a tad and go for it.

Its the bracing section thats hold all the crap to rot em out in the first place  I only put em back so it looks original still, sad or what

if they hadn't done that from the factory then i expect they would of never really rusted there!

u can buy some thing like a new floor pan and cut the whole section out and weld in a new one. Someone on here had both sides done like that!
