Hey All,

I'm looking at a Chromie '90 Convertible at the mo, it's going to need a new exhaust system and wondered what you put on yours.

I'm not looking for a bad boi super loud exhaust sound, something that just compliments that silky smooth 6 pot engine.

If anyone has any ideas or even better photos of the rear pipes all the better.

Cheers all..

Also fellas, how hard is it to get original carmats? Does anyone know where i can get some, ta.

BTB manifold with a stock rear. If you want more noise and burble, get an aftermarket rear later.

That manifold is well tasty. How much for one of those?

A lot.

If not in a group buy, these are very expensive. :P

You'll need not only the 6-2 equal length high performance manifold, but also a x-pipe to fit into OEM spec rears.

Urm, according to the site, only about a bag.

OEM... slightly less silly prices than BTB and good performance compared with a lot of aftermarket fart cans.

Having said that, mine came with a Peco exhaust which I think are no longer manufactured - but it sounds nice.

IIRC my full system was £1400, will dig out the receipts as I paid for the manifold then decided to finish it off with the system, I'm glad I did 8)

Between my M3 with a Milltek on, the BTB wins hands down on my sport.

custom built from a decent exhaust manufacturer would be cheaper than the BTB What pipe size does the btb use? as for costing more than the average 325 is worth; well maintaining one properly probably equates to their worth every year. Are we all mad? I can only speak for myself and answer in the affirmative.

As I said, through BTB, about a grand. Just for the manifold then the X-pipe for fitment to OEM spec.

The group buys 'can' go through about once per year when BTB aren't heavily bombarded with builing racing exhausts in the racing season. Anyone can set a group buy up with Joe@BTB, get it accepted by a mod on here, etc. Its just getting enough people to pay up. IIRC, under group buy they were around £550 for the manifold and X-pipe.

They want nearly another grand off me just for the tailpipe and y-pipe for their system, so keiran, all in for £1400 is an excellent deal! Might make a group buy for that at some point :chuckle:

Like Kieran, i went for the full system at roughly the same price.
6branch, X pipes into a single pipe running into a twin exit backbox.
Was finally fitted correctly, to my 325i 1986 cab , last Friday.
It is by far the best, single improvement, i have made to my car. :D
If there is another Group buy, sell your wife, mother, kids and/ or Dog
if needs be to get one. You will not be dissapointed.

I was considering putting a BTB on my M3 winkeye

Spoke to Joe and the manifold wouldn't do much improvement but the system would, imagine the noise at 5k 8)

Kieran you lucky f*cker! I wish I had an M3 to even put a BTB one! :P

I really want to hear a full BTB system, but a manifold + x pipe + old supersprint tail is perfectly fine on the noise front!

Nay, the sound of a full BTB is amazing.

I regularly drive around with the windows down just to listen to the sound :o:

Nay, if i get a chance this weekend, i,ll
record the sound. Which will consist mainly of driving
between high hedges on narrow country roads, over Canal Bridges
and through a Tunnel or two.
