what mild stuff can be done to the 316i touring? What exhaust should I consider and I imagine a panel filter etc. It's my wifes touring, so she doesn't want anything too much (not that you'd get that from a 1.6) oh and it's a 94 car so it has (or had) a cat (which is shagged!)
Plus what rear shocks should we go for, as it all needs doing, might as well do it all together.
Thanks

I'm sure you are aware but there is absolutely no point tuning the 316i, especially the touring. I would just put a cheapo rage backbox on or something with a cone filter. At least it will sound a bit faster then....

It's not an M10, it's an M40.
As above there's not really a point trying to squeeze anything more out of it. How about taking the windscreen out? It'll feel a lot quicker then....

Of course, it goes without saying
Andy, you could consider a big bore throttle body (BBTB), but on a small engine I don't think anything else will make much of a difference.
Exhaust or cone filter will just add noise rather than power.

I think I agree with the guys above on this one. Even though there are a few tuning parts out there for the 316i I doubt you'd make a big difference in performance. There will be some improvement though. The E30zoneshop does have 316i parts.
You could still go ahead with it and add to the driveability of the car by adding an exhaust and filter. Noise does count for alot.....well, nice noises anyway. Throttle response would be better.
But even then, that lot will cost you a few hundred quid in which you could have a 2.5 thrown in - 70bhp roughly + loads of torque.

just as I thought, so thanks for the replies (love the windscreen but!) we'll be putting std parts on the old girl. After all we've had it for 4 years, and it hasn't let us down once, so it'll all get back to normal soon (although my wallet will feel it I'm sure!)

You might find the performance parts are cheaper so its therefore worth doing.
