....or are E30's not selling at the moment??
Seems like the same motors are repeatedly put up for sale again and again.
Seen some S50'd E30's for sale, one on ebay seems to only ever reach about 4.5K!!! 8O 8O 8O

I reckon e30 prices had quite a bounce in the last couple of years - now penniless sellers are asking top money for junk because they've seen what some stuff has raised and they're trying it on. Used market in general is probably levelling off now after a bit of a jump at the start of the recession. These factors in combination mean a lot of stuff just isn't selling. On the bright side, my dad picked up a total bargain of a 325 cab a couple of weeks back because the bloke basically forgot to set a reserve. Might not fetch big bucks this summer, but next year I expect things to be back to normal, even with the VAT increase squeezing peoples pockets.

Nice E30s will only go one way in the medium term though - look at what people are paying for MkI golfs now

We're only just seeing the start of the downturn in the 'real economy'. I've a feeling in a few years the present day will seem like the land of milk and honey...

Though hopefully it'll be the dealerships selling to those on finance they can't really afford who suffer the most. If it gets really messy, then quality, older cars that are repairable by hand may eventually attract a premium. In Africa, everyone drives old Mercs for that exact reason.

Nope - I'm generally one of life's optimists. I even think I've got a decent chance of pulling on a night out despite the evidence in my mirror every morning!

But I can read a chart and I'll tell you now - you've no idea how bad this is going to get. We're looking at the distinct possibility of the effective collapse of our financial and economic system within the next 5 years, followed by a quarter century of chaos.

Best case, we, the Western world, will just be utterly broke and our living standards will gradually slip over the next few decades to resemble those we think of as 'third world'.

The S&P (US stock index...) broke down through crucial resistance today/yesterday and if it doesn't recover in the very near future, we're looking at a much, much worse crash than 2008 combining the worst elements of a deflationary and inflationary collapse. Think $250 barrels of oil, £10 for a bag of rice, and no jobs to pay for any of it.

We really are right at the cusp here - and I don't think it'll end well.....

e30 prices are all over the place always have been ,

due to a decent summer the cab prices make me laugh,

there must be around 10 cabs on ebay with 5k price tags, which are genuine 'show cars' ...complete with penis reps /ebay tat and tech 2 kits, professionally fitted/bodged on by some tit in a back street garage..

or you can buy a genuine 2 owner FSH cab that's unmolested for around 2-3 k ? :?

E30's are going through the faise where young drifter types are buying them and slamming them with rimz and ebay tat.

When the realise they are a 20 year old car and need quite alot of running repairs they loose heart.

Thats the sh1t that is out there at the minute that needs shifting through to find the gems

e36's now can be found on council estates as a upgrade from mondeos held together with duck tape and renault lagunas with blowing cats/exhausts.. but e30's are slowly getting a good classic status,
and many porpers are jumping on the wagon with shitters expecting good money for them ,drifters just wreck cars they are generally weighed in when these have finished with themand should stick to worthless sierras etc..

IMO i think the lower CC cars are gonna see more of a rise in the next few years than the big 6 pots, seeing as you can have a nice funky classic that dont cost the earth to run.

Non sport 325's will be going for pennys where as really nice 316's 318i's and 318IS especially will see quite a nice rise

I know when i started looking for 318IS's you could find nice ones for around the £500 mark now about 2 years later a nice condition 318IS will set you back upwards of £1500 unless you lucky and find a mug who dont really no what they are selling

Just my 2 pennys worth

This anti 318is stuff is rubbish. I have owned 318is twice and 325 once. Of the two, I would only buy another 318is, because I prefer them. So do lots of people. They are not as quick, but they are a great package, that's the point.

And yes, they are going up in value. An average 318is is fetching slightly more than an average 325i at the moment. I don't know or particularly care whether this is fair or correct, but it is currently a fact.

If you prefer the 325i, that's great. I prefer the six cylinder E36s to the fours, but I prefer the 318is to the 325i in the E30s. Vive la difference.

It's such a shame continually seeing interesting threads derailed by this mind-numbing 318is debate.

.....

I think one of the reasons some E30s are not selling is that there are a lot of intelligent people out there buying, running, and repairing them, and people now can tell a rusty old barge from a minter at 50 paces. Thanks to great, informative places like the zone, we are a discerning bunch.

Rant over, thanks :D
