After 7 trips to Le Mans without any problems I suppose it was going to happen one day, my E30 failed to make the trip back after Le Mans. Luckily it decided to finally give up within sight of Le Havre ferry port though so we managed to push it through passport control and got a tow onto the ferry. Got a round of applause as it was wheeled on from the passengers above and one joker even shouted: "you should have got a TVR mate, they're much more reliable".

The really annoying thing is that it was me being tight that caused it, The fuel pump broke while I was moving house a couple of months ago and being a very skint at the time bought a second hand 'mint' one off ebay, big mistake, that pump then promptly died in france. I usually buy new oem stuff where possible so I have learnt my lesson and will be buying new from now on.

And before all the ford perverts start moaning, here's a pic of my mate's capri:

D'oh. :o: If you'd been in Dunkerque, I had a spare fuel pump with me!

D'oh indeed. A spare pump would have been very useful! It's always tricky knowing what spares to take, I've been having problems with my old coolant hoses cracking since I did the cambelt, got a new set delivered from Cotswold the day I left so took them with me just in case but didn't need any of them (I'm sure I would have if I hadn't taken then though!).

Shame about breaking down but it's luck of the draw with 2nd hand bits. It could've lasted forever, you just never know.

Nice Capri!! I'm a Ford fan too...

Best 'spare part' when travelling abroad is 'get you home insurance'!
Every time I stump up the premium my car fails to break down....but when I do not take out cover I end up on a hunt for a scrapyard...
Next best spare part is a credit card with plenty of credit, just in case....

I was hiding out in the Bleu Sud campsite. It was quite luxurious this year, we had our own cocktail bar and dj. I'll get some photos up when I've downloaded them.

Quick smack with a hard solid object would have got the pump running!
