I was looking back at some previous history invoices of my 318is and found two invoices from a bmw dealer in Kent which confuse me. The work was done under the previous owner in 1999/2000 and the invoice states they fitted a M40 Oil filter and M40 Inlet Man Gkt.
Can M40 parts be fitted to the 318is as it has a M42 engine???
The work was done at 46140miles and im planning on changing the head gasket as soon as I know how!
So I guess the dealer didnt change it then or priced it wrong. Ive never been to BMW dealers, do they let you watch the car as it gets fixed/servised etc because after this case I dont think I could trust them.
i went to a garage cos my car was overheating, they did it as standard procudure and it came up clear, its still overheats an looses a bit of fluid tho
an iv got a tiny fuel leak
and yes my friend cracked head is worse cos its a bastad to get a hold of one lol
an u need new head studs i think
Hopefully mine aint. How much it cost for a compression test and what do they check for? Will it say straight away if its a gasket thats causing the problem.
not sure how much as i had other stuff done at the time and compression test was not stated on estimate
my cylinders were all compressing at about 9.7 to one except one which was at 9.6 i think, if they are all pretty high like near 9-10 then it shows head gasket is ok
not sure about crack heads, i know karan had troubles and experiences with one you should ask him (and let me know in the process )
