Can you get them separately, or am I going to have to buy some new TREs just for the boots? Nowt wrong with the joints, but I managed to nick both boots with the balljoint separator.

Dont think you can get them seperate. At least TRE's are fairly cheap tho

Anyone know if these are the right size? I'll measure some when I get a chance...
I know they're not expensive, it just seems daft to buy new complete TREs just for the boots - I'm not swapping them (& faffing with the tracking) when they don't need it!

I'll PM you with a link, of where to get ones which slip over the ball joint and the end section of the rod as well

i've decided after many years of trying that the best way to deal with ball joints is to wind the nut back until it covers the thread, heat the 'female' part up then apply a percussion adjuster* to the nut
all balljoint splitters ever do is wreck the boots!

It's no longer on the Rally design website.
Best to phone them with the diameter of the ball joint at the top of the taper and the diameter of the "cup" that the joint sits in.
They should still do 4 different sizes of poly ones.
IIRC they still list them in the 2010 catalogue.

Ziggy may still have the pm with details and part numbers taken from a catalogue.
I would look them up, but the catalogue is currently being glanced over at a mates house.

There's a well known firm in kit car circles that supplies these. Can't think of the name of them though.

I've always found the best way is to leave the nuts on the top, and then give them a bit of clout, after soaking them in WD40 for a while.
My E30 ones slipped right out and they were rusty as buggery!

I always use a 'scissors' type joint splitter on the outer joints, which, as long as you protect the thread with an old nut, doesn't damage the joint or the boot.
For the inner joint, only the fork type splitter is suitable, but I've found that if you spread a little silicon grease on the rubber boot and the splitter, you can often split the joint without damaging the boot.

Neither of those, but those are similar products.
