firstly is it worth it, its a f reg 318i tax till February 2011 and mot October,
it had a fresh spray 8 months ago and done very very nicly. new tyres, brakes, immaculate, interior, its had new valve steam seals, as far as i know it has loads of paper work.up for £500 but able to get for £450
ive tried looking it up but cant find what major differences there are from the i to is, im aware there's more power and can see seats and bumpers are different, reason i ask is id like to make it to "is" trim
at the moment im driving a e34 and its to large to have fun!
previously had a black e30 and missing the way they drive!
getting a 318i, few qestions

the 318 is only 8v? thought they were all 16v,
well its a mates dads, hes had it a long while and spend a ton on it. but then its been up for sale for a little while a good 3 months, but he was after 900 to start with
would i be better off looking for a 318is for 500? if thats the case its no biggie theres always more and tbh id have to spend more to get is trim ! apart from the fresh paint long mot and tax thats all that making me want to buy it
oh to note, i think hes mate owns a body shop, but what i do know is it cost him £300 but did take 2 months as it was preped over time when customers cars weren't coming first, then finally sprayed when they had low bookings so not to hold the booth up
ive looked at the paint in the shuts etc and looks good, it seems a good clean solid car, and checked the usual places,
but again its only this thats attracted me

I've got a f reg 318i. They've got an m40 engine, around 100bhp opposed to a 318is which has about 130bhp I think. I love myn, fitted a nice sounding
exhaust, lowered it 40mm on nice bm alloys, I'm 19 so couldn't consider anything bigger. If you like the is look with the lower lip spoiler, little spoiler on boot you can easily buy the bits, you could even buy a full mtech2 kit for it. Mpg I get about 27-30 I recon. Any questions about them pm me mate

many miles has it done?
many miles has it done?
not sure on the miles but not may think it was 90 some thing
i might get a 320 again, the e30 320 was my first bmw so think ill always love them,
but rust up the inner arch were it meets the bulk head and also up bulk head killed it at mot time!

and what it sounded like after i fitted a 325 system and a unknown rear box which got me pulled more then once for its loudness!! i some how prefer a m20 over a m50, not sure why but do!

320 is a lousy eninge though, firsty and underpowered.
325i was fun, bit flat up top mind but i enjoyed it...looking forward to finishing my m50 and having a play.
have you ever driven an m50'ed e30?

£500 for a good nick 318 is good money, and the fact you know of its history is making it worth more. decent is's don't come for under a grand mate and if you are looking to uprate yours then save your cash and buy an is straight out.
but, a looked after 318 for that sort of cash is a good buy.

ok, well may go fo it then, will work towards a m50'd e30 as that was my plan last year untill mot failed on excessive rust like 3 dinner plates size of dead metal!!
never been in a m50'd e30 but i can guess its very nice.
what's the major things needed, i know a little but not enough, ive read loads of posts on e3024v.com and non the wiser lol

m50/52, i went for a sport box and am bending the gear linkage with 325 prop, modify the headers, e36 alloy engine arms, e34 m5 engine mounts, e35 m50 sump pickup and dip stick and a few other bits and bobs.
there is a good thread in the m50/52 engine swap section
