i was talking to a mate recently about coilovers for my e30 and they made the point, do they slot in like replacement shocks? or do you need to have them welded on?

anyone have any help on the matter?

cheers

I know Gaz coilovers are welded to the struts.

I think some companies do coilovers as direct replacements for shocks. Maybe Hottuning and the likes?

Depends what you have. The ones we produce we take your original strut body, chop and weld thread on, and fit our own damper insert, spring, seats etc...

depends on the kit! There are straight replacements sold in the traders forsale section, rmp. Have heard good things! Or you can get weld on kits from specialist rallying site, but its mostly sold seperately and you need to work out spring poundages etc

im not going to be tracking the car, just want to get a nice stance on it. straight replacement ones would be best, i just wasnt sure if you could get those kits. i looked at rpm (i think) in the traders section and they looked like they needed to be welded in?? or am i being rather thick?

Our ones are a complete bolt on solution, we take your old struts in exchange and send you a complete new kit.

We accept a deposit up front if you want to wait until the new kits arrive, keeping your car on the road longer.

We remove all the old strut tube and just use the cast hub at the base, then weld on our own strut tube and fit up with all new kit.

If you are just after it for road use then this is the kit we would suggest:

Let me know if you need anything else

the ones that dont require welding are normally called insert dampers, most others require welding
