I have hear from 30,000- 50,000 from various sources including a load of old BMW mechanics. I suppose with there just being a rubber band stopping the engine from self distructing, and as it is such an easy thing to do DIY it's silly not to do it evert 40,000 ish miles.

Or 2 years if it is not doing high milage as the rubber can degrade as it ages.

every 60 000km or 5yrs

My car was changed at 60k then 90k(5years was up) and now again at 125K. (5years was up)

Official BMW guidelines say at least every 60,000 miles or every 4 years, or every time belt tension is loosened.
