by breaking my cabby?

I've seen another cabby that i want to buy but need to get rid of mine first (parent's for you  ).

I want to get as much as possible from my cabby to put forward to the new one so do i break or sell as is?

It's got no MOT at the moment but only needs the rear subframe bushes replacing, do i spend money on replacing the bushes and re-MOT it and then sell it?

It's got a mint electric hood, nice leatherz and it's rust free apart from the rear arches.

A couple of pic's of the cabby, it's a 320 manual with 122k on the clock:

Time and space is not a problem, which would be the best profitable option?

I've added a poll to see what people think.

TIA
Imy

Man - I dont get this - I thought that we were all e30 enthusiast and looking to keep as many as possible on the road (unless of course they are beyond economical repair and even at that we might repair)

Am I wrong - anyway - I went for the MOT and sell (£1700 325 Cabby Sport winkeye )

with rotten rear arches, to optimise it's sale value you'll have to get them fixed. I've just been quoted £450 for two outer arches for my cab, including supply, fitting and painting both back qtrs.

You'll raise £1k no probs fragging it if the interior and roof are good. I don't like to see an E30 shell get crushed when it hasn't been bent though.

Timing is not good for prices but if you are buying another cab, you won't lose. I assume you want that Motorsport cab that's up for £1700 winkeye.

Why are you selling this one, buying another cab, and then doing engine mods, etc

Why not keep this one, drop the m30 into it and so on, save you the bother of getting rid of this one, and finding another e30 with a rust free shell

Imy - my advice would be to use the budget you had set aside for modding your cab (thread with bootyman) to purchase the motorsport cab - on the face of it this looks like a fair price.

I would then MOT and sell your cabbie in the spring when it is more likely to sell and the price will be at an optimum. :D

Have you sold the wheels, surely both sets would fetch a bit of cash.

Keep the car and use the money from selling one set of wheels for 'personnilising' it.

Toplines have been sold, still got the deep dish Kerscher Carmona's, tried selling but just keep getting timewasters  :-x

I've got 6k+ to spend on my project or on another car (not necessarily a E30).

Is the amount you think you can sell it for with MOT going to be justified given the cost involved getting her through?

Incidentally, I think it should be sold as is (or MOT'd) - not 'fragged'.

Imy.

Rule no. 1. Don't frag / break a perfectly useable car.
Rule no. 2. Don't frag / break a perfectly useable car.
Rule no. 3 (etc etc ad infinitum)

I voted for getting an MOT on it (more attractive to a buyer) and selling it.

If you have 6K+ to spend on your project / alternative car which I assume won't be your daily driver, that is strong money so you'll have a lot of choice. Just not the M3 convertible on Ebay

Just because you are now a bit bored with it (?) doesn't mean that someone else won't love and cherish and DRIVE the bloody thing!
If it ain't broke, fix it till it is

It would be my weekend toy 8)

I reckon it'd cost me around £200 to get it through MOT, most of that would be replacing the bushes.

I'd be hoping for around 1.5k with MOT and half that and a bit less without :?

Worth MOTing for £200 imo. However, prices low at this time of year, I'd give it a few months.

That is true but i can't really keep more than 3 car's on the drive, with the new cabby that would make it 4 and would be just about space for 1 more but i doubt it :(

Wish i still had my garage

So you're going to sell a cabby which you know inside out and all it needs doing is the arches and subframe bushes, and buy another cabby which you will do an M30 Turbo conversion on.

Imy you're bonkers - if the engines coming out anyway why don't you stick with what you know ? What if you buy this other cabby and it turns out to have other problems that your current one doesn't have ? Is the one you now want to buy really that much better than your current one - especially considering you're gonna do an engine swap anyway ?
