Well got pulled over today in stratford, by the estate one :D , traffic police, cant remmeber what name they have...well for speeding, was only doing around 40-45, as i came over a bridge and then let the car roll as i saw them, as no point pushing the brakes now. they jsut happen to reach a junction on the right of us at that time and jsut followed us...

Unlucky for me and a few mates, i was jsut about to pull up at my brothers shop, literally few 100 yards down the road, which i did, and they stopped right behind us.

i got out, and the seargant came straight out, over to me, told me to take my keys out, and stand on the pavement...as i did, got 2 officers right in my face asking questions, and then the seargent came out with, do you know we have a law here, called section 60, you know what it is, i replied NO. He then began telling me, they have a right to search me and my car, for weapons, thought about it for a sec, what did i have in my car.... then told him go ahead...then got searched and so did the e30- thoroughly!!!

so basically all of us got searched along with the car, the searg asked me if i had any points, i replied no officer none, he replied well we will see what the traffic officer decides on that, whislt he was looking around the car...

unlucky for me i had very rusted arches, 1 with a hole in it, well the car isnt in the best condition shall i say winkeye , baldish tyre, and so on also very lucky he didnt open the bonnet winkeye ..

then traffic officer came over, he asked me do i know the braking distance when doing 30 on a wet road, i smiled and said well depending on your brakes.... :D which he wasnt to happy about and interupted me and said, serioulsy to you know the answer or not, truthfully, i said eeeerrrr cant remember off top of my head atm, he then said then you should driver slower...

And then asked do you have any points, which i replied no i dont, he replied do you want any, i again said no not really,he said well beg me not give you any with a smirk on his face, i smiled and said pleeeeeeeeaaassseee offfffficer dont give me any points, in a sarcastic way with a big smile on my face, as i did, all 3 started laughing, along wiht my mates and then let us off...

lucky he didnt see how i was driving on the way back from lakeside jsut before that..

Overall the officers werent bad at all, as i didtn give them attitude, and was talking to them politily, and agreeing with them with what they were saying.... they did the usual name check etc but was a good laugh, only cos i got away with it, if he wanted to be strict, pretty sure he could have done me for a fair few things..

Happens to me all the bloody time.. I'm always Uber polite, though one got me recently half way through a row with the missus and I was a sarcastic little shit. Luckily he saw the funny side.

Section 60. Hmmm. Tossers.

Hold on. He admitted to us that he was going a little faster with a bald tyre earlier in his journey. And you give out about the cops ? If his driving and the bald tyre had ended up in a serious accident (thankfully it did not) then those same cops have the job of knocking on the door of the family to deliver the bad news.

Actually, I think a beat up E30 is considered one of the cars of choice of the low-level drug dealer chav fraternity. As I don't know any drug dealers, I could be wrong. But this might possibly be the reason for the stop.

As far as inappropriate speed goes, I suspect the choice of car and age might well have something to do with it. Around my neck of the woods, the average moron driver crawls along at 40 on unlimited B roads and then accelerates to ~45 once safely inside a 30mph limit/built up area/school zone. I've never seen one pulled over for it.

The fact that they wanted to search the car makes it pretty clear that they stopped him on the assumption that he might have drugs, weapons or outstanding warrants, and thus that detections were more likely to be generated than if they stopped, say, a middle-aged woman in a range rover.

I agree - or even worse a head on with some innocent family. How many times do you hear about this in the run up to Christmas.

My advice would be get a tyre and save it for the track :thumb:

to be honest im speaking in general about the police and their attitudes, they spend too much time and money trying to catch people speeding, there was a mobile speed trap near ours the other week with 7 coppers just standing around, now surely 5 out of those 7 could be put to use in some other areas. maybe investigating other crimes etc

I've never been pulled over in any of my e30's even driving my 325 when I was 18 :D

Could the nearly bald tyre explain you cars tendency for sliding/spinning out as stated in your other thread?

only been pulled down strathy once and i had the family with me. they were doing stop checks and theres me rumbling down the road at 5mph with a full scorpion system fitted trying to navigate over all the bloddy speed bumps. they were ok though 2 minutes and we were on our way although one of the coppers did comment on how loud the car was but i think he liked it lol.

i used to stay over in shawhead in coatbridge and i got pulled atleast once a week at the bottom of the road where the grange is as the cops always sit there.

TBH I'm not surprised I keep getting pulled.. My car goes beyond what can be called 'loud' and WAY into 'antisocial' LOL. Plus it accelerates like a lunatic, even when I'm 'taking it easy'.

Stupid S50 and supersprint race exhaust! I LOVE it :)

I looked up section 60

http://www.urban75.org/mayday01/s60.html

it seems you must have looked violent...hey ho
Section 60 is a power any uniformed Constable can use if it has been authorised in the borough or area

A section 60 is normally put in to stop anticipated, looking violent has nothing to do with it, a section 60 is normally put in if violence is anticipated or there has been a lot of crime in a certain area or Gangs are causing problems

Whenever you’re stopped and search the reason your being searched should be told to you.

This is the exact info of a section 60 from the MET Police:
Section 60 Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994, gives police the right to search people in a defined area at a specific time when they believe, with good reason, that: there is the possibility of serious violence; or that a person is carrying a dangerous object or offensive weapon; or that an incident involving serious violence has taken place and a dangerous instrument or offensive weapon used in the incident is being carried in the locality. This law has to be authorised by a senior officer and is used mainly to tackle football hooliganism and gang fights.

Hope this make it clearer buddy

I got pulled last night, I was in a car park, alone right on the outskirts of town. I went there just to find the limits of grip on the rear, as since I got the car a week ago, Iv been crawling around wet round abouts etc. just because everyone has told me the cars are mental tail happy. So I thought ultimatly its safer to know the limit, and how to control the car if it does go! So I went to a large, open car park, about 11 at night, totally empty, no one around, and like I said on the outskirts of town. Turns out the police were just sat watching it, as I left, they pulled me over. He asked what I had been doing, I told him honestly, and he flatley refused to accept it. As far as I can establish he would rather I was out on the roads, with less car control, than do a coupla little slides in a deserted car park. It just annoyed me so much, how can they be so ignorant, I wasnt doing myself, or anyone else any harm, and there was no danger, the car park is huge!

Im hardly a little chav, I was doing it for a genuine reason. Obviously I can see to an extent why they pulled me etc. But I gave a genuine reason, and was REALLY polite and apologetic, yet he began to tell me about seizing my car etc.

Pissed me right off.

99.9% of Cops are unprofessional, bullying, insecure, power-drunk sacks of shite.

For every good one I've met, I've met 100 real pieces of work. Don't get me started on female cops, they are the absolute worst.

Unless they're hot.

Which they never are.

But they are sometimes.

Rarely.

And then it's okay to be stopped.

By hot female cops.

Only the chavved out ones. I suspect the one in question was less than a Concours original. Another reason to stay within the boundaries of decency, in this instance the gold Borbets are probably not worth the ensuing Section 60 sanctioned harassment.

Cos thats where all the tools were, and the stash, well joking about the stash part winkeye

Hey it was 10.30, and not in the best of areas, and the passenger wasnt exactly the average size male, the rear half was tinted(light so not to be classed as council winkeye ) and it was an e30...i dont blame cops sometimes, this time they were jsut doing there job, and lucky for me they werent total b'tads....

As for the tyre, due to the other thread, i checked te rears out, but when i took it to the garage to get a few things sorted, i noitced the front innerside was low-bald-er line.

People know doing certain things is wrong, but they still do it, i know the way i drive can be very dangerous at times, but built the car to enjoy and thats what i was doing, even tho it shouldnt be on public roads but hey.......thats life!!!-but hey still cant wait for friday-Cadwell- just dotn hope it raining badly. :D

Don't forget the other part of the quote Lewis.

You'll grow out of it I'm sure, I'm just trying to speed you along the path of maturity. Zone banter is hardly the same as bad driving is it.

Your female cop behavior was pretty grown up too.

Oi dont get me started on women cops, some can be real pain and annoying, once i 2 cops come up to me, 1 male 1 female, and the female one started to get fresh, me being me, gave her attitude jsut as good back, then she told me to sort my attitude out, i told, sort my attitude out when and if i like, you telling me isnt exactly going to do is it, she then threatened me with section 5, which i replied, i havent even done anything, you lot talking rubish to me, i was just sat here, then kept threatening me with that and told me to move on... it was long debate and i knew i wouldnt win, as section they can arrest for any bullshit reason, so i moved off veeeeeerrryy sloowly winkeye
