....to get a good Sport for Ԛ£3000? Over here in Ireland the prices have shot up and people are asking ridiculous money for ragged, poor examples. So I've asked a fella who sources them from the mainland to get me one. Just off the phone too him there, he says its going to be difficult but he is sure that something will turn up. Now... I'm the worrying type! I've been looking in the Trader for months and see very few Sports that I would even go to look at that are within my budget. I cant help but think that this is mission impossible and I really cant spend any more than Ԛ£3k.

I'm very keen to get a Sport and it MUST be a good car, I cant have one any other way as I dont have the time or money to buy a rough one and fix it up.
Must be excellent condition, lots of history, preferably leather interior and mileage at 130k max.

Do you fellas reckon its possible to get a good Sport for Ԛ£3000 these days? One like Geemans old one is something like what I'm after, but its up for Ԛ£3800!!

I'd really appreciate everyones thoughts on this.

Thanks

Karan speaketh the truth IMO

By a nice specced 325ise, that'll probably have been looked after better, and no horrors under the kit.

Fit an LSD for Ԛ£250 and there ya go-LSD'd 325i for Ԛ£1750 nice and shiny too.

Ant has one of the se sport wannabes-im sure he could tell you the pro's and cons :D

Do the 325ise's have the m-tech suspension no? I really wanted a car that i could just get in and drive. Getting an LSD over here would be a bollox too and after restoring a Golf last year I cant be annoyed with buying parts and painting this and that.

I really hope it doesnt come to this but if i cant get a Sport i'll have to do the unthinkable and buy a..... Jap wagon *gasps* I'm sorry guys but i need something quick and RWD!

It never fails to amaze me how things can change in such a short space of time. I thought long and hard about a few things and decided to sacrifice food and water for a few extra Ԛ£ to spend on getting a good Sport. So, looks like I MIGHT soon be the owner of a Lachs Silver Sport with a mere 109k on the clock and polished wheels (not sure what they are tho). Dont know much else but apparently its mint and has lots of history. Hopefully it doesnt sell by next week.... :D

I wouldnt buy one over there unless youre sure its a minter. They go for at least 500 to a grand more over there than they do here in England.
When I sell mine im gonna drive it back to NI and put it in the trader there.

half the problem is they only made 2000 of each model, so there are not alot left now. plus most that are left are king of the concil estate sh!tters

I'm certainly keeping mine!

Dave touring sold a good honest sport for under 2k, with a savable shell

There a few out there in your price braket with bodywork that has not gone too far,but how many owners will let u take the kit off? thats if u can get the kit off!!!

If u want a good one then up your budget as everyone is too aware of what they are worth now i'm afraid. And i'm not a supporter of buy a Ԛ£1500 325 SE and add all the bits on later. This is a far more expensive task than most people on here realise and alos a very slow and painful experience as the parts required are scarce.

Most sports now will have shagged m-tech suspension regardless of milege or will be slammed to the floor with G-max springs on Euro car parts alloys!

I bought my car from a fella in Cushendall mate-was possibly a bit overpriced but from looking at the english prices it wasnt really that different.I paid Ԛ£3500 which im sure will turn into a twincam-style investment.Good luck with the hunt.
