lol ... yeah tyres are gonna be an issue ... can easily enough get racing wets wide enough ... but road legal tyres are proving to be a struggle for under 200 a corner :P they will probably (if we manage it) have a 205 tyre stretched over them for the ace meet tomorrow

Nice. Who does them - not JamesP from retrorides?

If not, then how much for 5x114.3 17" steels banded? James has given me a price, and they'll be his first ever 17's...

Dollah. How much does a 255/15 cost? How much does a 205/15 cost? You can lower the car further with stretch, as the sidewall is 'smaller'. Lastly, he can get the tread under his arches without mega flaring with stretch, but couldn't with mega wide tyres.

Those particular nexens are acceptable too, not totally crap!

I know i'm getting on a bit but can someone please tell me what the attraction is of having wheels that are far too wide for both your car and the tyres :?
They will make the car drive like shite and they look bloody awful

Aye, and +1 to your most recent comment.

Alright, a bit of dish is nice, but on a 15" wheel, anything over 8 is silly in my book. 10" on a 17 or 18 is the absolute max, and still a bit silly.

I wouldn't get in a car with tyres stretched like that, sorry.

Of course they are too wide for the car :?

Have you actually driven it on them yet?

Anything that will make a car drive as badly as that will is not correct it's a simple as that.

You know you say they look aweful? And you know how that is your opinion?

Well, strangely, you get people out there with different opinions to you occasionally :p winkeye
It's not a dig at all, just a comment!

Messenjah - see my previous question please dude! Oh and 205 on 11J is mental, most I'd heard of previously was 205 on a 10J! What profile are they? I'll be putting a 205/215 on a 9.5J sometime, and I thought that was kinda pushing it on the street!

As well as being my opinion it is also a 'fact' that they are both dangerous and will make the car drive like a bag of shite.

If making a very good handling car look like a roller skate and drive like a turd is your thing then whatever floats your boat

I agree really stretched tyres look shite too.
I don't mine a little stretch like 195/215 on 8 or 9s or something but 205 on a 9 plus is just crazy. If you want wide wheels, do the appropriate mods to the caps arches and suspension..

Its all fine on show caps that seem to feel the need to be sitting on the floor or cars that don't handle well to start with but on an e30, there's no need unless you have so much power having 10'' wide tyres is your only option.

But as a rim by themselves, they look brilliant!

205's on a 9J is about the limit i'd ever want to run

the whole point in stretching is to get the wides wheels on your car with the tyre staying under the arch. thats how it started way back in the day in germany

Spadge, its a fact that they'll make drive differently, yes, but being dangerous? Nah. Ok, so that stretch is OTT as said, but stretch as a whole isn't.

Dave, its ALL about how it looks :D most people on here wouldn't have an E30 as low as mine, and yet I want mine lower. Go figure!

Think I'm with Spadge on this one. I'm sure that tyres were never designed with that much stretch in mind. I certainly wouldn't like to drive on tyres like that, given that they're all that keep you on the road! 8O
