Went to look at a G plate 318is thats for sale today, I haven't seen one of these for sale for ages so wondered what you guys thought it would be worth.

Here's the spec...

Metallic black, few little dents but no paint damage.
Interior is mint, no damage to fabric.
No rust at all other than a tiny bit around the brake servo and battery tray.
130k miles, full top end rebuild at 105k with documentation.
Leccy windows, mirrors, sunroof. No fogs or OBC.

Assuming there's no probs with it mechanically what do you think it's worth?

Cheers,

Jon

Here in Holland it would go for around 1250 Pounds I think. But it may be different in the UK...

Edit: I see Simon thinks about the same 8)

Yeah as Si said, about 1200 to 1500 should capture you a good one. Front iS lip is quite rare to actually find with the car :?

saying that if it's had a good top end rebuild then thats the main headache of owning one of these sorted, everything else that might need doing is no where near as expensive. I've seen very few 318is with rust even ones with well over 150k on the clock. I would like to own one of these again!

wen u say u havent seen one for sale for ages do u mean u havent seen a G plate for ages? cos as far as i can see there seems to be a few 318is' for sale most of the time, im lookin round for one atm and usually find at least 2 or 3 on autotrader and the odd one on ebay, found a mint lookin one on trader a few weeks back but it was gone next time i looked, pretty much standard with an m tech spoiler.
Wot sort of money r we talkin for a good top end rebuild? And wot r the common problems with the top end? things like timing chain and profile gasket is wot ive heard, any other common ones?

cracked heads is another. 89G plates are rare as only a handful were made in that year. most were made in 1990/91. the top end rebuild on my old one with a reconditioned head was about Ԛ£1250. The reason they rare is there are only 1000 left on uk roads in 2002 so even less now!

It certainly seems that the prices have dropped recently. About a Ԛ£1k-Ԛ£1.5k should buy a decent iS, plenty of people seem to find them for around the Ԛ£1k mark these days.

Neww hydralic tappets are a nice thing to find replaced, the engines much quieter then.

cool, this is all goin down on my little list of things to think about in my head lol, all i think about is wen im gonna get an iS and im always sat there workin out how much everything would cost, bordering on an obsession now. Wot sort of roads would u say they r suited to, cos i live in guernsey in the channel islands so if i was to bring one over it it wouldnt even touch any motorways and barely get over 70mph, even that would just be stupid on these roads, but cos of the suspension set up and the weight distribution etc do u think it would be suited to our windey narrow roads (and the lovely hair-pin just round the corner from me)

Congrats!
Just remember to give it a few minutes of driving to let the engine warm up before revving it too high - this will help avoid head problems
I read somewhere an a german e30 site that most M42 problems are caused by regularly taking them over 3k in the 1st ten minutes of driving.

Any pics?

Great little cars mate, you won't want to give it your girlfriend once you've driven it.

Love mine to bits, and it must say something that most folks on here that have had one say they regret selling it or would have another.
