After I got my New Beetle re-mapped [up 75hp to 225!!] I used 97/98 ron fuel. Was told it would run better on it. When I get my 325 cab what fuel should I be using then? I guess 95 ron must be fine cos thats all that was about in 1989 but will it run smoother/be better for the engine if I use Optimax etc?

What do you use?

If you're pottering about or just cruising then 95 is fine.

If you tend to drive it hard often though I personally notice a difference on the premium stuff.

Obviously it all depends on how you're gonna drive the car really.

Put this in Search, it has been discussed often and at length. I think the concensus was that Optimax was an overpriced gimmick but BP Ultimate might be worthwhile.

It won't hurt to try either one but i found that my car was alot smoother and sounded more sweet using Optimax, the injectors don't chatter!
BP Ultimate just felt sluggish

TBH premium petrol is a waste of cash if your car is not set up to exploit the higher RON.

Save your pennies and just get 95 in the tank. All the petrol comes from the same place, supermarket stuff is fine-never caused any problems in any of the cars I owned.

Folks have everything designed to take your money off you nowadays 8O
