Hi
I would not say it's easy but then again there is no one thing that will cause a major problem.
The best way i found is to drop the whole lot out the bottom but that meeans raising the car quite high.
If you take it out the top with the hoist (bonnet off, rad out) you will need some help to tilt it to get the gearbox clear (if you leave it connected) and don't forget the reverse light switch and clutch slave cylinder, It's best just to unbolt it from the gearbox to save you the trouble of bleeding it upon refit.
The loom will need to be unpluged from the ecu and fed back through the bulkhead and unclipped from the rear of the engine bay. One terminal from the battery and one for the engine earth to the bodywork (normally on the bottom) unscrew the c101 plug from the socket next to the fuse box and thats about it (i think

if the shell is being scrapped cut out the top panel, then you hardly have to lift it, it will come out straight forward, much easier i find

Good idea.
I wish someone would make a conversion kit to change the front panel to a removable one like the 46.
