I am toying with the idea of having a hardtop on my cabby. I really love the look of them... BUT the only issue is risk of theft.
A guy owns a E30 near my road, who had a hardtop. Someone attempted to steal it but failed. He said they failed because he had it extra secure and alarm was triggered, so they didn't have enough time and probably didn't know what they were doing. However I see a number of E30's around my area with hardtops, obviously not stolen (YET).
What would you do? Would you buy a hardtop if your were in my shoes or not give the scums an excuse to break into my car? Anyone had their hardtop stolen? Share your story.

Toad alarm with ultrasonic or microwave internal coverage!
A lot cheaper than a hard top at £800+

Move to a nicer area!
Unless you have a garage I wouldn't recommend it, my convertible was parked in front of my house in a quiet cul-de-sac - the f**kers cut the front screen rubber and unbolted the hard top and left my car with no screen and the soft top down in the morning rain
Lost heart with the car after that and ended up selling it.

If you think you are at risk at getting a hardtop stolen, then you are equally at risk of getting everything else stolen. Get the best alarm you can afford first.
Selection of BMW hardtops available, please ask!
alarm or no alarm, they will still attempt to steal it !! its one of those things where your lucky or unlucky ! have you got a drive ? maybe you can set a booby trap to warn you that someone is next to your car !! some fishing line around the car at ankle level which connects onto a bell inside your house !!!
