well after a little look on the internet shows 1/4 mile time of 13.8 to 14.2 for a mk5 R32, I'm pretty sure when the previous owner had my car he had a timing ticket from Santa Pod with a quicker time than that, i think it was about 13.5-13.6
yeah but a quick time up the strip wont make a quick point to point car .... not necessarily newaybillgatese30 wrote:well after a little look on the internet shows 1/4 mile time of 13.8 to 14.2 for a mk5 R32, I'm pretty sure when the previous owner had my car he had a timing ticket from Santa Pod with a quicker time than that, i think it was about 13.5-13.6

very true, and that's where the 4 wheel drive of the golf will help massively, especially if its wet outside, but in those situations the driver often makes more difference (as I have found out from both perspectives on the track)

I can run faster than a golf R32. I have seen one lose to a 174 hp vr6.

Be careful about 'beating' golf R32's in the midlands. I saw an unmarked police car pull a boy racer on the M6 outside Coventry the other day....
Oh and my car is the e36 3.2 S50 engine. I'd say it'd eat an R32...

It was a dark silvery grey.
You'll know if I'm coming too, the thing is rather loud....

R32s are turtles
Even a 316i would rip them... just rob the wheels or lock the car and throw away the keys
I personnally couldn't give a toss if a Golf could beat my car. As long as I know I have the better car, which I do...
God damn aweful cars...
Horrible to drive too (well, mk3's and 4's. Dont know anyone rich enough to drive a Mk5!).

That'll be the s50. 321bhp, would be nice in an e30. Apparently you can get them to weigh as little as 850kilos (so Ive been told).k13 wrote:what about E36 3.2litre - 24v engine - 316bhp i think ????
has that conversion ever been made ???

I didn't mind the M3 Evo I drove a while back. Very rapid.Falkster wrote:That'll be the s50. 321bhp, would be nice in an e30. Apparently you can get them to weigh as little as 850kilos (so Ive been told).k13 wrote:what about E36 3.2litre - 24v engine - 316bhp i think ????

TBH, I found that engine and car pretty boring to drive. I'd have an E36 M3 as a daily, but they're nothing special.
Still prefer the little over-roar of my M20's!

Too smooth and not enough roar! I'd didn't say they were slow!

Granted, never played in an S50 (Or is it S52, I forget!) powered E30, but I find the E36, inc. the M3, a dull car. No sense of drama or occasion. Theres no presence to them either, its just an E36 M3.

Very true.
The E36 m3 is a good car, but very boring for a bmw with 300hp.
The 325i only has fuel gauge drama though.
