put a manual box in and start again,
put a manual box in and give to sal ?

Are you getting this tech 1 sport on the cheap? If so, it would be rude not to punt it on for a wee profit IMO. Prob more desirable with a manual sport 'box if you happen to have one knocking about?
Anyway, you can't keep the car you have 8 already!!!
