For those of you who service your e30 yourself will find that of course the service light doesn't go out
So here I was with this issue and after doing a thorough search, researching ebay's solutions and of course the BMW tool I came across a way that claimed only to need a single wire!
So...I gave it a go, basics were:
1) A piece of wire with a crocodile clip at the other end and the other end stripped back 5mm or so.
2) Place wire in number 7 of diagnosis port in engine bay.
3) Earth the other end (croc clip end).
4) Turn ignition on (but not engine) for 3 secs to reset after oil, 9 secs after full service.
Works a treat if I say so myself! Green LED's come on temporarily to show that it has been reset. As a last minute thought apparently you can place the other end of the wire in port 15 (as that is said to be ground anyway but I thought it easier to earth with croc clip).
Hopethis helps some of you out there- sure others already knew this anyway but hey ho!
Resetting service light! Well chuffed...
