I've always loved deep dish wheels. I want them for my E30 as E30s suit deep dish alloys and I doubt i'll have another car that can pull them off (and be young enough/daft enough to fork out for them!)

Its E28 for the offset in E30s isn't it? Need to be clear on that!

What I want to know is about widths though!
I know 7"/7.5" is a common wheel size but they are often too skinny. What are 8" like? 9"?

For 9j 16" wheels, do you need to roll the arches? What does it take for a bodyshop to do this? Front and back? Debating on 9 all round or 8 front 9 rear.

What do people think? I have the 15" BBS for originality, so dont throw stuff at me! :P

For a 9j rim im sure the offset has to be ET15 and you will need to roll the arches

Dont think you can get 8j (could be wrong)

On mine i have 7.5 on the front and 9's on the rear but you can also get 9" all round depends on what you want.

the ideal offset will change with the wheel width. a wider wheel often means needing to use a lower offset to keep the inside edge away from the strut / inner arch, which means you're pushing a wider wheel further out in the arches.

there are plenty of people running 9s all round, but most will have seen a fair bit of arch work, run stretch tyres and stiff suspension.

very wide deep dish wheels also look terrible at standard rideheight, so if it's not already dropped, budget some 60/40 springs in with your wheels and tyres.
cheers,

harry

8j is available on the borbets I've been looking at. 7,7.5,8,9.

I'm thinking of Borbet BS

Looking at that photo, is it only the rear arches you have to roll, and how do you do that?

Although, these alloys sit just behind borbet b's for me!

Can anyone reckomend and alloys similar to BBS cross-spokes or borbet bs's that have a dish? I personnally dont really like split rims, but some of you may be able to tempt me! Things like BBS RS?

You've seen the light :D

My arches aren't rolled but only got a 40mm drop so it helps. You want a lower offset with wider rims, mine are 15 IIRC.

I prefer the staggered set-up, 7.5J upfront and 9J at the rear

Borbet A's look very nice, just look at Oakey's Tech 1

I want "poke out the rear" wheels, yours are nice, but they sit too tamely at the back. need the wheels pokin' out.

9" all round mate  Mine will be a 30-40mm drop. may even do a 40/30 drop. :D 60/40 is too rude for me :P

Need to look into rolling the arches. Thankfully, plan on getting the whole body done eventually. So will look at it then.

Do you need to roll the front arches too? (for 9j's?)

To pull it off properly, you need it as low as possible, 'gangsta low' innit winkeye

The front should be okay but for the price, it's probably worth doing anyway :)

What difference do coilovers make? Thought they where just a type of suspension for track use.

Depends on what your going to use the car for. I had the car on springs and i could not have people in the back as the wheels would rub the arches but now that iv got it on coilovers its ok and i have it much lower then before. The only reason iv gone for coilovers is i plan on using the car on the track and changing wheels etc.

 na there not going anywhere

as for 9's all round with the stretched tyres and a 40mm drop all round ive had no issues, im also using the uprated top mounts off a e46 m3 cabby

not even people being in the back but im running 205/40/16 profile rubber

Get the wheels you posted in 8j front and 9j rear and they would sit nice.
I found when rolling on 9j borbets all round you get reverse poke (which sounds painful). Front wheel sticks out more than the rear wheel.
This might be down to the camber on the rear making it appear that way but either way it looks shonky imo.
If I did it again Id either run a staggered set up, fit spacers to the rear to give it a bit more poke or fit some camber adjustable front top mounts and wind on -3 degrees.
