im thinking about sticking in an electric fan for extra cooling to coencide with the viscos. what size would i get away with if i wanted to put it behind the kidney grill?

You can fit a 12" fan on the front of a standard E30 radiator. Any bigger than that, and it will hang over the edges of the Rad. If it aint broke - Modify it...
